Police: New City Man Kicked Out Windows On 2 Patrol Cars

Investigation of domestic dispute in New City leads to arrest.

A New City man who was being taken to a hospital by police kicked out windows on two police cars and bit a police officer in an incident in New City on Monday, according to Clarkstown police.

Craig DiBianco, 36, was arrested after a confrontation with police who were called to a Georgetown Oval home in New City to investigate a domestic dispute. DiBianco is accused of doing more than $1,500 worth of damage to the two police vehicles.

The incident began about 8:50 p.m., when Clarkstown police received a 911 call about a domestic dispute. Police officers encountered DiBianco on Georgetown Oval and police said DiBianco agreed to voluntarily go with police to be taken for medical evaluation at a local hospital.

However, police said that when DiBianco was placed in the back of a Clarkstown patrol car he became agitated and kicked out the rear driver’s side and passenger side windows of the car.

DiBianco, according to police, was arrested and then began to struggle with officers — biting one of them in the hand. The officer was not injured.

Police said DiBianco was restrained and put in the back of another patrol car. DiBianco then kicked out the rear passenger side window of that car, police said.

DiBianco was taken to Clarkstown Police Headquarters in New City, where he was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, a felony, resisting arrest and harassment. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Town Court by Judge Howard Gerber and bail was set at $15,000.  DiBianco is due to return to court on Wednesday.

I have known Craig since he was a little boy and this is not his style. Something had to set him off as he never acts out like this. He is a good and caring person. We lost our son 3 years ago and he was a good friend of Craigs. He misses him as a friend terribly and I wish the authorities would take all of this into consideration and get him the help he may need. Bob Russo
