Rockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe today announced Riad Dib, 66, of  Wesley Hills pled guilty to the intentional murder of his estranged girlfriend in January. Dib had been charged with one felony count of Second Degree Murder for the death of Cecile Garbarino who died after her head and face were beaten with the heel of a woman’s shoe.

Dib faces a maximum sentence of 18 years to life in state prison when he is sentenced on January 7, 2014. He remains in the Rockland County Jail.

“The defendant has admitted his guilt in the senseless killing of an innocent woman,” Zugibe said. “The helpless victim died violently. His actions have caused great pain and inconsolable loss to the victim’s family. The defendant should be kept behind bars for the rest of his life.”
