According to Ramapo Police, Daniel C. Hlavic, 21, of Pearl River drove a white 1999 Ford Explorer into a utility pole on Airmont Road in Suffern early Wednesday afternoon.
When police arrived just after 1 p.m., the SUV had come to rest on a rock wall between Par Road and Champion Road. Hlavac was oustside the vehicle showing signs of intoxication.
Hlavac was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Ramapo Police arrested him for Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.
The utility pole was severed in the accident, taking out power in the area. Orange & Rockland Utilities had to replace the pole and estimated that power would remain out until midnight.
