State Police in Orange County are investigating a fatal hit-and-run
automobile accident today on Satmar Drive in the Village of
Kiryas Joel, where a sanitation worker from Spring Valley was killed.
Anastacio Vasquez of Spring Valley was collecting trash for the Village of Kiryas Joel Sanitation Department at about noon today when he was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to cross the street.
A white mini-van was seen leaving the area after the crash. State Police said the investigation and an attempt to locate the vehicle involved are ongoing.
