Unusual Suspects: Magazine Peddlers; 9 Bags of Heroin; Naked Man

Recent weird and unusual crime in the Hudson Valley. Reports do not indicate a conviction.

Four men from Ohio and Missouri were ticketed by Bedford Police after residents on Long Meadow, Clinton and Guard Hill Roads complained of being solicited for magazine subscriptions between 7 and 8 p.m. The men were ticketed because they did not have a license to go door-to-door to sell their product.

An Irvington resident called police on her neighbor's behalf after the neighbor discovered an unknown man in her bed. Police determined the man, who is from Ossining, was severely intoxicated and found 9 small glycine bags of heroin on his person.

A man told police he returned to his Rose Street home and found a vehicle parked on the property. His mother then went outside to confront the nam, who emerged from his black Lexus naked and pushed the woman into the bushes. Police identified the owner of the car, who said his son was driving the car that night. No charges were filed.

Clarkstown police detectives busted a Queens woman for prostitution after she offered a sexual act during a massage session at a spa in Bardonia.

NYSP from the Southeast barracks arrested a man who gave a false name after being stopped for allegedly not dimming the lights of his 2006 Honda.

Evan Loring, 28, of 4 Vaz Place, Wallingford, CT, was arrested for allegedly stealing more than $80,000 from Port Chester's Bartaco restaurant. Loring was once Harvard University's assistant football coach. He began as a bartender at Bartaco and worked his way up to assistant manager. Police say Loring would change the receipts on cash-paying customers' bills to reflect fewer items and steal the remaining balance.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
