West Haverstraw Man Charged With Handgun Possession

Clarkstown Police report they arrested Miguel Resto, 26, of West Haverstraw and charged him with criminal possession of a loaded .357 Magnum revolver, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor on Thursday afternoon. 

Police responding to reports of an altercation at Forestbrook Road and Springbrook Road found Resto and two other parties in the area.

An officer speaking with Resto, observed what was believed to be a gun inside his jacket pocket. 

“Resto began to struggle with officers and a foot pursuit began. Resto was subsequently taken into custody in the rear yard of a North Pascack Road address,” said Sgt. Jo Anne Fratianni. “During the pursuit, Resto was observed to toss a silver and black handgun into a wooded area.  The gun was recovered and determined to be a loaded Interarms .357 Magnum revolver.”   

Resto is awaiting arraignment in Clarkstown Justice Court.
