Woman Mugged in Nanuet Supermarket Parking Lot

Purse stolen; victim not injured.

Clarkstown police are looking for a man who mugged a woman in the parking lot of a Nanuet supermarket on Saturday morning.

A 47-year-old woman had her purse stolen at about 10:25 a.m. as she was at the Stop and Shop. She was not injured in the incident.

Police said that as the victim left the Stop & Shop off Middletown Road and walked to her car, her attacker was parked next to her car. The attacker, who was standing next to his car, grabbed the victim's purse from her shoulder, got into his car and then drove off.

The attacker's car was described as a newer model Ford four-door hatchback, dark gray with New York State license plates.  The attacker was described as a white male, about 20 years old, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with an average build.

Clarkstown detectives are reviewing store surveillance video as part of the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 845-639-5800 or the TIPS line at 877-639-6233.

You guys are lacking in intelligence, i suggest you read the District of Columbia v. Heller decision from 2008. Also read the whole 2nd amendment Robert Guttman, you have no "gutt(s)". "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Again, the individual right unconnected to a militia, was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court.
the robbery was real as many people saw it...actually there where people handing out stop the desalinization plantflyers at stop and shop...everyone should be very careful when going to your car even in places deemed safe

Did anyone try to stop it, or try to help the woman.
Bruce.. a family member of mine was there...this happened in the parking lot facing middletown road..it happened quickly...the perps where acting like typical people standing talking on the phone..my wife said that a few people saw it and got descriptions of the car etc...this perp planned it well ...EVERYONE should be very aware.of their surroundings when walking in areas they think are safe
