Aney Paul announced her candidacy for the position of Rockland County Legislator on Tuesday for District 14. This district includes Nanuet, West Nyack, Bardonia and parts of Spring Valley and New City.
“I’m so excited to announce my candidacy,” Paul said.
The Democratic Party will endorse her at her formal announcement set for today at 5:30 p.m. at the Nanuet Veteran’s Memorial Park at the intersection of Route 59 and Middletown Road. Afterward, there will be a campaign fundraiser kick-off gathering at the Sitar Palace in Orangeburg at 7 p.m.
The Honorable Robert Jackson currently holds the seat, but is not seeking re-election.
“I am delighted to have Bob Jackson’s endorsement, along with the support of Rockland County Legislature Chairwoman Harriet Cornell, Clarkstown Supervisor Alex Gromack, Assemblyman Kenneth Zebrowski, Senator David Carlucci, and party leaders Nicole Doliner, Clarkstown Democratic Party Chair and Kristen Stavisky, Rockland County Democratic Party Chair,” Paul said.
During her listening tour, she collected concerns from residents on excessive taxation, wasteful spending, environmental issues and the quality of life of senior citizens and volunteers.
“The challenge of our time is ensuring our residents have fair representation and that we find honest solutions to their concerns and issues,” she said. “We face the greatest economic challenges in recent history, issues that will require creative ideas and thoughtful approaches.”
Mrs. Paul plans to introduce her Three 'A' Approach:
“My success will rest on representing the entire community and utilizing the Legislature as a vehicle to foster a more responsive and open government,” Paul said. “I have the benefit of understanding the values of our community as well as the challenges we must face together.”
“I am thrilled Aney Paul has decided to run for the District 14 seat and know she will work hard for the community,” said Stavisky. “Aney Paul has a deep commitment to District 14 and to Rockland County. Aney has spent her entire life working for the betterment of her community and would represent her district with compassion and skill.”
