Flu shot clinic is being offered at the offices of Senator David Carlucci in Nanuet on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Rockland Health Department is also offering flu vaccines on Friday, Feb. 1 from 1 - 3 p.m.

A flu shot clinic is being offered at the offices of Senator David Carlucci at 95 South Middletown Road in Nanuet on Wednesday, Jan. 30.  The clinic, provided by Nyack Hospital, is available to individuals ages 19 and older during the hours of 4 to 7 p.m.  Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling 845-623-3627.

"With the flu season the most widespread we have seen in nearly a decade, now is the time for Rockland residents to take action, get vaccinated, and stay healthy in the winter months ahead," said Carlucci. "A flu shot, provided free of charge, gives many the chance to avoid getting sick from the outset.  I would like to thank Nyack Hospital for partnering with my office for this important event open to the public."

Nyack Hospital Vice President and Medical Director, Dr. Michael Rader said, “The number of clinically documented cases of influenza are up sharply from last year.  As we are only half way through the flu season, we feel that it is imperative that all individuals who have not yet received the flu vaccine do so to protect the health of our community.”

The Rockland County Department of Health is also offering flu vaccines on Friday, Feb. 1 from 1 - 3 p.m.

If you are a Rockland County resident, you can make an appointment to get a flu shot at the Rockland County Department of Health, Building A Exhibition Hall, located at 50 Sanatorium Road in Pomona

“Get your flu vaccine now – it’s not too late.  Getting vaccinated is the first and most important step in protecting against the flu and its complications,” said Dr. Joan H. Facelle, Rockland County Commissioner of Health.

To make an appointment for a vaccination, call (845) 364-2519, Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The County Health Department is offering the flu vaccine free of charge to adults 60 years and older. Patients with Medicare and Medicaid must bring their cards. Those ages 9 through 59 years of age can receive the vaccine, for a $25 fee. Bring proof of Rockland County residency such as a driver's license. Individuals can also check with their doctor, or visit www.flu.gov to find flu vaccine clinics in the area.

“We encourage residents to take advantage of our flu vaccine clinic to help prevent getting, and spreading, the flu,” said C. Scott Vanderhoef, County Executive.
