Lanning, do you have any further background on this gentleman? Resume? This is a very important slot but many have heard his name for the first time.

Charles, thanks for catching that - I meant to put a link to the full press release, which gives details of his background, in the article. It is now there, and here: http://rocklandgov.com/departments/county-executive/press-releases/2014-press-releases/county-executive-day-names-economic-development-director/

"Monel brings over a decade of economic development, business management and marketing experience to the new position. He most recently served as an IT Business Specialist at Clear Channel in White Plains. Prior to his time at Clear Channel, he worked at Lascomp Institute of IT (LIIT) in Montvale, New Jersey, where he was responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing marketing plans designed to maintain and increase existing business and capture new opportunities. He also reviewed and submitted RFP's and worked closely with private sector and government purchasing departments." Thanks, he appears well qualified with a diverse background and most important no political baggage. That us what taxpayers come to expect from Ed Day.,

You can not find a better candidate for this position. Mr Monel has the kind of experience, drive and love for Rockland County that will yield huge positive results.

I don't think he will stay in this spot. Seems like a lot of pressure to produce.
