Orangetown Supervisor Sharing Office Hours With Patch Thursday

Three days after sharing the tentative Orangetown budget for 2013, Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart will hold joint office hours with Patch editors Ryan Buncher and Kevin Zawacki at the Pearl River Public Library.

Orangetown Supervisor Andy Stewart's tentative budget proposal for 2013 drew plenty of conversation on Patch earlier this week.

Stewart will be available to discuss the budget and other matters related to the Town of Orangetown at the Pearl River Public Library from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Pearl River Patch Editor Ryan Buncher will co-host the office hours, which will be set up in the library's community room, with Nyack-Piermont Editor Kevin Zawacki also joining the discussion.

Orangetown residents with questions about the town budget and other topics are welcome. Stewart will bring information about the budget, Rockland Psychiatric Center land use and the Pearl River sidewalk project.

Guests will also be able to sign-up for Orangetown email alerts and learn how to use Patch. One focus of discussion will be using the internet to find out about sharing and finding local news and staying connected with your community.

For more information, contact the Orangetown Supervisor's office at (845) 359-5100 or by email at supervisor@orangetown.com. Buncher can be reached at (914) 216-4918 or at ryan.buncher@patch.com.

I very much appreciate Stewart's consistent effort to be transparent and in some cases proactive. Someone suggested we explore allowing the TZ bridge construction vehicles and equipment leasing space at RPC. Is this worthwhile and feasible? Also, I hope he elaborates further regarding the issue with ticket revenue going to NYS rather than Orangetown. I would hope if our officers are patroling the Palisades Pkwy and County roads, related fines from tickets should go to Orangetown.

Thanks for the input. The police are researching how to get more ticket revenues and we are talking about it with the Court as well.

Your welcome and thanks again for your efforts. Is the idea of leasing RPC land to the construction companies invovled with the TZ bridge feasible or far fetched? Would you consider later hours the next time you offer "office hours" at the library? I am a tad surpised the police or an official within town hall can't already advise us about ticket revenues.

Harvey, great point. For those of us who work, getting to an event during the day is impossible. Perhaps turnout would have been better during a late afternoon or evening time slot. I like the idea because unlike an official Town public meeting, I would suspect these sessions would be conducive to a good exchange of ideas without the political wrangling that accompanies most Town Board meetings

Re: later office hours - of course! This coming week I have meetings every evening except Monday, but always welcome Town residents to come by Town Hall on meeting nights - Tuesdays.... the meeting starts at 8 PM and there is usually some good Town-related conversation before and after. Re: RPC as staging area for TZB construction - not so far-fetched but speculative at this point. Thanks!
