Tuesday: Rockland FEMA Workshop in Piermont

The Disaster Recovery Workshop will run from noon to 8 p.m.

There will be a FEMA Disaster Recovery Workshop tomorrow, Tuesday February 26, from 12 noon to 8 p.m.  This will be held at: Piermont Village Hall—478 Piermont Avenue. FEMA representatives will be there to answer questions regarding disaster assistance and the National Flood Insurance Program.

TSA Program Extended

  • FEMA, at the request of the State of New York, has approved a 14-day extension to the Transitional Sheltering Assistance TSA program.
  • The TSA program allows eligible Hurricane Sandy survivors to stay in hotels or motels temporarily if their homes are inaccessible or unlivable because of the disaster.
  • With the extension, the new TSA checkout date will be March 10, 2013.
  • FEMA will call eligible applicants to notify them of the extension. FEMA, the state and voluntary organizations continue to thoroughly assist TSA applicants through comprehensive outreach and one-on-one casework. Our goal is to help applicants transition to a long-term housing plan.
  • Payments are made directly to hotels and motels for TSA eligible applicants.
  • Applicants sign a Terms and Conditions agreement that explains their checkout date when they check into the hotel.
  • TSA is a short-term sheltering program and not a housing program; many survivors are successfully moving forward with more permanent housing solutions.
