What’s Open, Closed And Operating

Schedule information for the final day of 2012 and first day of 2013

 

This is the last day of 2012 and government offices are open. Mass transit is operating. Some systems are keeping to their regular schedules, while others have switched to a weekend schedule.

Rockland County government offices are open today and closed New Years Day, Jan. 1, 2013. 

Clarkstown Town Hall is open Monday, Dec. 31 and closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, New Year’s Day.  It will hold its annual Reorganization Meeting at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3 at town hall. 

Orangetown Town Hall is open today and closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.

Nyack Village Hall will close at 12:30 p.m. today and will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. 

In Clarkstown, garbage and recycling will not be collected on January 1. Recycling collection scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 1 will be picked up on Tuesday, Jan. 8 and garbage collection scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 1 will be picked up on Friday, Jan. 4. 

The New City Library is open today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.  The Nanuet Library closes at 1 p.m. today and is closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013.

The Pearl River Library is closed today and Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. The Nyack Library closes today at 1:30 p.m. and is closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013. 

Here’s a rundown of transit schedules for today and tomorrow:

For Monday, Dec. 31:

  • TOR, TZx, TRIPS paratransit, Clarkstown Mini-Trans and Spring Valley Jitney buses will operate normal weekday service.
  • Coach USA Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan Lines) will operate Saturday service, plus limited departures on the Express routes #45 and #47 on both days. On New Year’s Eve, additional late night buses from Port Authority Terminal to Rockland County will depart at 12:15 am on Route #20 and at 12:45 am on Route #11-A.   • Coach USA Express (Shortline) bus service from the Exit 14 Park & Ride lot will operate a modified schedule in the morning. Early getaway afternoon buses from Manhattan will be added at 2:30 pm and 3:00 pm from 56th St. & 5th Ave. and at 2:30 pm from Wall Street. Call (800) 631-8405 or go to www.shortlinebus.com.
  • Monsey Trails commuter buses will operate holiday service. Go to www.monseybus.com or call (800) 510-5100.
  • Metro-North trains will operate on a Saturday schedule with additional morning inbound and evening outbound service. Go to www.mta.info or call 511.
  • NJ Transit train service on the Pascack Valley Line and the Main/Bergen/Port Jervis Lines are scheduled to provide regular service on December 31. (Note: NJ Transit train service may still be limited due to damage from Hurricane Sandy.) Go to www.njtransit.com or call (973) 275-5555 for the most current service and schedule information.
  • The Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry service will operate a modified schedule based on the Hudson Line train schedule. Go to www.mta.info or call 511.

For Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013:

  • TOR will operate Sunday service on TOR #59, #91, #92, and #93 and Loop #1, #2 and #3, with no service on TOR #94, #95 or #97.
  • TZx, Coach USA Express (Shortline), Clarkstown Mini-Trans and Spring Valley Jitney buses will not operate.
  • TRIPS paratransit buses will operate A.D.A. service only.
  • Coach USA Rockland Coaches (Red & Tan lines) will operate Sunday service and Coach USA (Shortline) buses will operate holiday service.
  • Monsey Trails commuter buses will operate holiday service. Go to www.monseybus.com or call (800) 510-5100.
  • Metro-North trains will operate Holiday service. Go to www.mta.info or call 511.
  • NJ Transit trains will operate weekend service.
  • The Haverstraw - Ossining ferry service will not operate.
