New City, NY (August 22, 2013)  –     Rockland County Legislator Dr. Aney Paul is partnering with the Lions Club of Nanuet to hold a forum to promote healthy babies and healthy mothers.  The forum, “The Role of Community in Promoting Breastfeeding”  will be held on Saturday, August 24th, 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Nanuet Public Library, 149 Church St., Nanuet, NY.  August is National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.  The event is free to the public.

Lactation consultants from La Leche League and health professionals will be present to provide valuable information on the health benefits of breastfeeding for both babies and mothers.

“Breastfeeding provides the best health for babies and mothers,” said Legislator Dr. Paul, "and helps to build a strong bond between mother and child.  Babies who breastfeed are better protected against illness and are less likely to incur childhood obesity.  A father’s bond is strengthened through his encouragement, support and awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding."

Dr. Paul is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with several nursing degrees including a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Masters in Public Health and supports health outreach programs.
