On April 13, Rockland Road Runners (RRR) headed north to compete in the annual Inter-Club Challenge at Thomas Bull Memorial Park in Montgomery, Orange County. The meet pits RRR versus the Orange Runners Club and Sullivan Striders for a friendly competition and bragging rights for Lower Hudson Valley running clubs west of the Hudson River.

RRR showed up in full force with just under 30 runners leading the way. Points were awarded for overall winners, age group winners and participation.

Rockland swept the men’s and women’s individual titles as Luke Gavigan covered the 5K course in 17:44 and Caitrin Demchko reigned as women’s champion in 18:55. RRR placed well among all age groups: 15-19(1,2), 20-29 (1,2), 30-39 (2), 40-49 (1,2), 50-59 (1,5), 60-69 (1), 70+ (1).

We came, we saw, we conquered! Rockland stole the show and won the trophy back from Orange Runners Club! This was the first Rockland victory since 2009.

Final Scores:

- Rockland Road Runners: 209

- Orange Runners Club: 183

- Sullivan Striders: 135
