Rockland County’s Gavigan wins big at Millrose Games

Rockland County’s Luke Gavigan (Tappan Zee High School) won the New Balance High School Boys’ Mile Run at the New York Road Runners’ Millrose Games held on Saturday at the Armory. Gavigan finished the race in 4:08:96, a personal best and the top time nationally this year.

Rockland Road Runners’ president Jonathan Farrell spoke with Gavigan after the race. “When are we getting out for a run again? How about next weekend?," Gavigan immediately asked. He was tired, shaky, and definitely satisfied with his race. With the support of the crowd and fueled by adrenaline he was able to kick it into the next gear with 400m to go, leaving the rest of the field behind.
