Barr Middle School PTA Seeks Parent Volunteers

My name is Monica Nicolucci and I am the current PTA President for A. MacArthur Barr Middle School. At the end of this year I will have served my two year term and will be stepping down. Currently, we don't have any candidates for President or Vice President for the 2012-13 school year.

I have been involved with the middle school PTA for the last four years, first as a board member and most recently as President. I have found my involvement in both positions to be very rewarding. During these years, the PTA has sponsored several successful fund raisers including Yankee Candles and Gertrude Hawk Chocolates. This spring we are selling beach wear to raise additional funds.  

Please consider running for an office so that we can continue to provide valuable support to the students at A. MacArthur BarrMiddle School. If we do not have a President or Vice President for the upcoming school year, the Barr PTA will have to be dismantled.

The following is a list of all of the events the PTA sponsors and/or supports that would no longer take place if this happens:

• School Pictures
• Halloween Parties
• Book Fair
• Bagel Breakfasts
• Refreshments and decorations for moving up
• 8th grade moving up video
• Staff Appreciation
• Author Visits

In addition to the aforementioned events, the PTA also helps to defray the costs of field trips, the art show, and many other classroom projects. As you can see the PTA has had a profound impact on the middle school and has helped to enrich the four year experience of all our students.
