Art teachers Jacqueline Almonte and Denise Pentimone have involved their Barr Middle School students in the Pinwheels for Peace event for six years.
"Pinwheels for Peace is a way to observe International Peace Day (Sept. 21) in a fun and creative way," said Almonte.
Check out how last year's went in this Nanuet Patch article.
The students "planted" the pinwheels along Church Street in front of Barr and they were up for the school day before being taken down to be returned to the students. The students each made a pinwheel and attached them to straws.
One student made a sign "Peace for Syria," her family's home country.
