Design Day: A Playground is Born

Design Day was a success from start to finish. This isn't the final playground schematic, but it's pretty close

Nanuet was buzzing Tuesday because it was finally here: Design Day. 

After the previous beloved Highview Playground was torn down last year, the community has since rallied together in a way that mirrors what was done in 1990. Nanuet residents are raising the money to build a community playground and after months of planning, the design and steering committees picked , the same company that helped design the last one.

On Design Day, the designers interviewed students at Miller and Highview elementary schools, drafted the design during their lunch break and revealed it in a community-wide celebration that same night. The design is just a first draft right now, but it's a big first step for the Nanuet community.

Also, at the celebration night, information about upcoming fundraising events was available, but for those that missed it, just go to the playground's website or check out this previous Patch .

Among one of the announcements made was Owen Soba of . This Nanuet Resident founded a party idea based on a traveling trailer decked out with video game systems. He had been contributing 10 percent of all party sales booked within the Nanuet School District, but at last night's meeting, he announced that he plans to contribute 15 percent toward teh playground.
