Blauvelt, NY – The Boomerfest 2012 Steering Committee has announced a series of free events for boomers leading up to the second annual Boomerfest event, to be held at Dominican College’s Hennessy Center, 495 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY 10913 on Sunday, April 29, 2012, 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. The second pre-event, “GLAM-aria, a Night of Rejuvenation,” will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012, 5:30 pm – 7:00pm at The Esplanade at Palisades, 640 Oak Tree Road, Palisades, NY 10964. Participants include: Bella Tu Med Spa, CD Artistry, Dr. Alan Rosenfeld, Hair by Andrea, Hudson River Electrolysis, Jewelry By Susan, Massage Envy, Rejuvenate Hair & Skin Center, The Fitness Center at the Rockland JCC, and Weleda. Boomerfest’s pre-events are designed to give participants a preview of BOOMERFEST. All are free of charge and refreshments will be served.

Boomerfest 2012 will offer a variety of resources for boomers and their parents, including community services, volunteer opportunities in Rockland County, safety services, author’s corner, financial services and insurance, moving and home repair, health and beauty, travel and leisure time, medical and healthcare, homecare and companion agencies, senior living communities, hospital/rehab and nursing home care. In addition, there will be an Intergenerational art exhibit featuring Summit School students and Rockland County seniors and a complimentary wellness breakfast—“What is Good for Your Heart is Good for Your Brain” from 9:30am – 11:00am in the Granito Center, Dominican College – Space Limited RSVP boomerfest@gmail.com

Boomerfest and the preview events are designed for boomers who are simultaneously helping their parents make tough decisions, as well as searching for resources to prepare for their own lives and futures. All events are free of charge. Last year, more than 400 boomers attended Boomerfest.  The event included over 70 exhibitors, health screenings, massages, reflexology and guest speakers which had one object in mind -- to help relieve what the committee calls “Boomerangst.”

The Boomerfest Steering Committee, comprised of health and service professionals from the Rockland and Bergen County communities in conjunction with Dominican College, have joined together to host a unique event for the baby boomer generation.
