Highview Playground Design Day: Together We Can Build it Again

After months of meetings and planning, the committees for the Highview Playground’s rebuilding project has sifted through the possible designers and Leathers & Associates came out on top.

Now the Design Day date is set for April 26.

“Design Day is when the architects will come into the elementary schools, gather ideas from the students, draw up the first design and reveal it to the public in a community celebration that night,” said Krista Vasti, chair of the design committee chair. “I encourage everyone to come out to the evening celebration and be a part of this playground project."

The community celebration is at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 26 at the Nanuet High School’s auditorium.

Since this is going to be a community playground, the entire community of Nanuet and beyond is encouraged to come and find out ways to participate, volunteer and help.

“This is going to be a huge community effort and we need a lot of support, whether it's you volunteering, donating or giving material donations of some kind,” said Michelle Mazzaro, president of the steering committee. “It's for the children and we're looking at making this one better than the last for all the future generations to come. So come and learn about what you can do to help."

The slogan of the rebuilding project for this iconic playground is "Together we can build it again. It’s a perfect marriage between design, build and community,” said Mazzaro.
