Nanuet Elementary Principals Reflect on Day One

Nanuet Elementary Principals talked about how the first day of school went.

Although school was only on Wednesday last week, there was still a buzz in the air from students, teachers and parents about the excitement of Day One.

The principals from both elementaries weighed in on how the first day went at their respective schools at last night's Elementary PTA meeting

Principal Elizabeth Smith of Miller Elementary thought the little ones went through their first school day with no problems.

"They were troopers. The kindergardeners are doing great," she said. "They're having conversations and waving and doing just fine."

Principal Barbara Auriemma of Highview Elementary also had a positive reaction of day one.

"It's always a pleasure to see your children at the first day of school," she said. "When they come off that bus, they're jumping." She added that there is always an open office at the school and told all parents they should not hesitate to come with any questions.

Assistant Principal of both elementaries Anne Chen gave a few words too at the PTA meeting.

"I'm so excited that the school year has started. This is my favorite time of the year," Chen said. "That sparkle in their eyes is what I love to see. They're comfortable already."
