Nanuet PTA Honors Families, Volunteers (VIDEO)

At the Nanuet PTA Council Founder's Day Celebration on Monday night, life membership awards were given to Sharon Martini, Melissa Merritt and Christine Camillieri. The awards were presented by the respective PTA presidents: Maureen Nicolich, Michelle Mazzaro (Barr PTA Vice President) and Maryanne Lombardo.

Food was donated by Corner Cafe, Bella Luna and parents in the community.

"Last year we did Mardi Gras, so we decided to change it up a little and do a Valentine's Day theme," said PTA Council President Andrea Cangelosi. 

"I think it's great," said Graham "THey've been doing it for a lot of years and I've been coming to it for a lot of years. I like the smaller tables, it used to be at Barr Middle School where it was hard to get in and out of the cafeteria tables."

“It was a wonderful PTA Founder’s Day dinner,” said Superintendent Mark McNeill at Tuesday’s school board meeting. “The PTAs fundraise and all the proceeds go toward school programs. It’s quite commendable what takes place. RoseAnn (Mercado, Nanuet Family Resource Center) bought last year after Valentine’s Day, for a very low price, decorations that was used for this year’s dinner.” 

There were middle and high school student volunteers throughout the night. The night began with a musical interlude by the High School Jazz Band led by walter Miller.

After dinner was the candle lighting ceremony:

Jack Gremli, the school district’s performing arts director, led the high school cast in four sneak peeks of the upcoming play “Grease” (Check back with Patch later for video clips from this).
