Nanuet School Board Questions HS Musical Costs
The two original shows on Friday and Saturday were almost sold out so a third show was opened to the public by using the senior-invited dress rehearsal on Wednesday as an official show
With almost sold out shows, the Nanuet High School spring musical "Grease" was well attended and raised a lot of money for the Nanuet Music Parents Association. However, at the last school board meeting, board members raised concerns about the play’s costs.
“I know we want quality but in these times, are there things that can be done by students?” asked Board Member Ron Hansen. “I know they can do it. Can we look into this instead of hiring somebody?”

Board President Anne Byrne echoed his concerns.
“We also have a contract with someone to do the play programs. There are places where we can save money, because when we add up everything, that was in the play, it was around $55,000,” she said. “There should be some things where next year, we can look at the kids to do it.”

The school board approved independent contractor agreements and stipends for the 2013 spring musical Grease.
Approval of 2013 Independent Contractor Agreements
There are two independent contractor agreements for work done for the 2013 Spring Musical:
1. Allan Seward, for services as the Lighting Designer and Technical Director, for a total cost of $1,600.
2. Sal Sabaj, for services as the Graphic Designer of the playbill, for a total cost of $1,600.
Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, That the Nanuet Board of Education approves the Independent Contractor agreements.
The following employees rendered their professional services for the 2013 Nanuet High School Spring Musical. Please note that the funds to be expended for these amounts come directly from the proceeds of the program. Therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Education approves the payment of services to the following employees for their work on the 2013 Spring Musical.
