Nanuet School District In Review
The Nanuet Union Free School District is beginning its new year with a good track record to both continue and live up to for the upcoming school year.
With school set starting just yesterday in Nanuet, there are many expectations that the Nanuet School District are surely hopeful that they will continue to live up to. Report cards for the district based on data from 2006 were released on www.city-data.com, and each of the schools were given a rating from 0 to 100, 0 being the worst and 100 being the best. The schools in the district were rated as follows:
George W. Miller Elementary School: 68, 681 students
Highview Elementary School: 78, 515 students

A. MacArthur Barr Middle School: 78, 385 students
Nanuet High School: 82, 680 students

The scores were based on sex and racial score differences and also weighed according to the number of students taking the test while giving more weight to recent results. All of the schools in the district made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for all students.
A. MacArthur Barr scored above the state average on all tests in Science, Social Studies, Mathematics and Language Arts. George W. Miller scored above the state average in Mathematics and Language Arts, which were the only tests given. Highview Elementary School also performed above the state average on tests in Mathematics and Language Arts, as well as on the state tests for Science.
Nanuet High School has 95.5 percent of their students (126 out of 132) graduate with Regents diplomas, and 51.5 percent (68 out of 132) of them graduated with Regents diplomas with advanced designation. 84 graduates planned to go to a 4- year college, 44 planned to go to a 2-year college, 3 enlisted in the military, and 1 planned to pursue employment.
In addition to their academic successes, Nanuet High School is home to the Section B Champion Boys Football team for the 2009 season and the team is ranked 3rd overall in New York State.
