Nanuet Schools Dismiss Early Monday

Nanuet High School gets out at 10 a.m., Barr at 10:40 a.m., Highview & Miller At 11:15 a.m.

 

The snow started falling early Monday in Rockland County, with local school districts responding by closing early.

The Nanuet district notified parents and guardians around 9 a.m. of its decision. All after school and evening activities are cancelled. At 10 a.m. Nanuet High School will dismiss. At 10:40 a.m. Barr Middle School will dismiss and at 11:15 a.m., Highview and Miller elementaries will dismiss. 

The National Weather Service is calling for a mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet from the morning through 3 p.m. with an accumulation of less than an inch of snow and "little or no ice."

Other Rockland school districts including Clarkstown, Nyack, South Orangetown and Pearl River have made similar announcements.

This is just ridiculous. There are two aspects to our water. Supply and demand. United WaterRead More control our supply and have been instructed by the NY Public Service Commission to increase our supply. Our politicians control our demand. They could enact legislation to restrict demand tomorrow: Introduce water saving measures, restrict growth and introduce incentives and policies to conserve, but do they? No, of course not, they would rather showboat and slam UW, who are doing what the State has mandated. If our local politicians are serious on this issue, propose real legislation and water conservation measure, not just baseless rebuke of UW.
