Nanuet Students Raise Pennies for the Playground

The students collected a grand total of $705.30

The Highview Playground Rebuilding project is under full swing after so many hearts were left empty with the tearing down of the old one. Many of these empty hearts belong to the children of the Nanuet schools and the community beyond.

However, the community has rallied together and so have the kids. The students at both Miller and Highview elementaries started collecting change in a fundraiser called Pennies for the Playground.

"All the kids should be applauded for their efforts and selflessness," said CJ Bottitta, vice president of the Highview Playground Steering Committee. "The kids did an amazing job collecting."

They brought their spare change to school and after many weeks, water jugs full of change were brought to TD Bank to turn into dollars for the playground.

The two schools, combined, collected a total of $705.30 for the Highview Playground:
