Colleen Power has played Varsity Basketball and Lacrosse since she started Albertus Magnus her Freshman year. It is no wonder that this super athlete is one of the 'go-to' players on the team especially when it comes to playing other power house teams such as Tappan Zee and Pearl River.

As captain, her basketball prowess was evident recently when Albertus played Tappan Zee High School (TZHS). With just seconds left on the clock, Albertus was down by one point against the then undefeated TZHS. When Power got possession of the ball she confidently took the shot and scored giving . Probably one of the most talked about and memorable games she has experienced.

She started playing CYO basketball in 2nd grade at St. Margaret's in Pearl River. Eleven years of practice, games and camp is quite apparent when Power is on the court.

Power is paying it forward by going back to St. Margaret's to help coach the girls 3rd grade team with her sisters.

"I hope that  I can share my experience and knowledge with them. This is also why I have gone back to the St. Margaret's program to coach with my sisters. My ran the CYO program at St. Margaret's for many years and has been a huge influence on these decisions."

She also assists with the Albertus basketball camps.

"I enjoy working the basketball camps because it gives me the opportunity to work with younger athletes who make sports fun."

In the spring, Power can be found playing defense on the Lacrosse field. Last year in the 2011 season, she was selected All-Section Honorable Mention and All-League.

In addition to excelling in sports, Power excels in the classroom. As an honor student she is a member of the Social Studies and Spanish Honor Societies.

In the free time that she manages to find she is also active in other school clubs. She is a Student Ambassador, Middle States Accreditation Student Member, and a Student Council Representative

She also has been involved in the International Club, Pro-Life and Youth Against Cancer Programs as well as participated in the school's Midnight Run Program.

Even with a full course load, basketball and lacrosse practice and games, plus her commitment to the other clubs and activities, Power still finds the time to volunteer and share her skills and knowledge.

"I volunteer my time to  the Buddy Ball Basketball Program for children with special needs. I work the Buddy Ball program at Albertus with my team as well as the boys team.  We help the children with disabilities play basketball.  This is a very rewarding experience."

As of now, Colleen is still deciding where she will attend college in the fall.

Great job Colleen, it's been an exciting season for you and the Albertus Girls Basketball Team. Best of luck with the rest of your season and the lacrosse season. Keep up the magnificent work!
