When this scholar isn't studying she enjoys being involved and leading some of the clubs and activities Nanuet High School has to offer.

For the past couple of years she has been involved with the drama club.

"I have been involved in four shows so far; "Once Upon a Mattress" I was the understudy for the lead, Winifred, in "Spoon River" as Margaret Fuller Slack, in "Hairspray" as Velma Von Tussel and the understudy for Tracy Turnblad and lastly in "You Can’t Take it With You" as Penelope Sycamore.

Nicole is also very active in the school government. She has been in the student senate all four years. Freshman and sophomore years she was Secretary of her class. Both junior and senior years she has been President of her class.

"The student senate is basically the student government. We do fundraisers for the school dances, and we just planned a really nice homecoming dance. Now we are working towards planning and paying for the prom. We also plan things like Senior Plays, Spirit Week for our class, and help organize for graduation. We also help out fund-raising and organizing other class activities such as class rings in sophomore year, and yearbooks this year."

Nicole has been active in the Yearbook committee since her sophomore year. This year she is the Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook.

She has been named Captain of the Academic League and Co-Captain of the Science Olympiads which she has been a part of since her freshman year.

"In Science Olympiads, myself and a partner choose two or three science related events around late fall and do a little research and studying before the big meet in the spring. There, we can take things we have built and test them, or we take a regular paper test in competition against other schools. For the past two years, Brendan Dang and I have received medals in the Anatomy and Physiology event"

Nicole has a knack for drama, encompassing her interest in English and Writing. However, her achievements in science both in and out of the the classroom can not be denied. Integrating the three subjects is her long term goal.

"When I go to college, I'm looking to study English and writing with a scientific slant. My goal would be writing about environmental issues in a newspaper or magazine, and maybe one day looking to publish a book. I'm looking at a couple of different liberal city schools with good writing programs."

Congratulations to this intelligent and talented young lady and best of luck as she chooses a college to attend next fall. Enjoy the rest of your senior year.
