Key to Awesomeness:

Elisabeth is a jack of all trades and enjoying every minute of it. She is involved in Brownies, dance, softball, track, art and swimming just to name a few of her activities.

As a Brownie, she received the top seller of girl scout cookies award in her troop. Selling over 150 boxes of cookies, she earned extra badges and received a bandana for her hard work.  In addition to selling cookies Elisabeth has also done some volunteer work.  Last year her troop had a clean up day at St. Agathas. Also, at Christmas time each girl is assigned a type of clothing to buy to donate to the needy.

However, Brownies is not all work all the time.

"My favorite activity with the Brownies so far was our camping trip to Frost Valley," said Elisabeth Alicata.

In the fall her troop, along with all the other Nanuet troops, headed upstate to where they spent the weekend camping. The girls were able to experience activities such as zip lining, tie-dyeing and performing skits by the campfire.

Elisabeth also enjoys taking Ballet and Hip Hop classes and will be performing in her first recital this June.  She is currently playing softball for the Nanuet Little League. And next month she'll begin running track with the Nanuet Track Club.

The Nanuet Track Club is a program that introduces elementary school kids to track and field.  The program is organized by the coaches from Nanuet High School and they collaborate with the coaches from Suffern High School in order to make the meets more competitive.  Last year Elisabeth won first place in the long jump at one of the summer meets.

Elisabeth also goes to swimming classes and has been recommended to start swimming competitively.  Those lessons recently paid off. While on vacation in Cancun, she was fortunate enough to swim with the dolphins.  She literally was face to face with a dolphin and didn't flinch.  In fact, her smile couldn't have been any bigger.

With all these activities keeping her busy she still enjoys going to school.

"My favorite subject in school is Writers Workshop."

She has a great imagination which could explain why this is her favorite subject. This creativity is not only in writing but in art as well.  One of her art pieces from her Miller School art class was selected to be put on exhibit in the Nanuet Library. Along with other students from Nanuet schools, certain works of art were chosen to be put on display for the public to view.

Elisabeth has also been active in the re-building of the Highview Playground. She drew a schematic of what she envisioned for the new playground and presented it to the steering committee for their consideration.  What a terrific experience for a seven year old to be so active in what's going on in the community.

If you see Elisabeth around town, on the softball field or at a Brownie meeting, she is sure to have a smile on her face. She is such a happy child and brings joy to everyone around her.

Great work Elisabeth!
