Tomorrow: Call for Highview Playground Volunteers

Those interested in volunteering should attend the meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 at the Nanuet Public Library's upstairs community room

The target build date—Columbus Day Weekend—for the new Highview Playground is upon us, but it can't happen without volunteers. But, what can you and/or your children do to help?

"Our new Highview Community Playground will be built by the hands of its very own community volunteer members. This will take many volunteers in order to happen," said Volunteer Chair Nancy MacRobbie. "The build start date in October 2011 is coming fast! There has been a great show of support already, but we still need more help in order to make the dream of a new Castle Park a reality for our children!"

There will be an informational volunteer meeting tomorrow for volunteers that have signed up for a particular committee already and for anyone else that would still like to join the project. You can sign up for more than one committee.

Here are the committees:

  • Food - for Build Day
  • Childcare - for Build Day
  • Construction - for Build Day
  • Design
  • Events
  • Fundraising
  • Public Relations
  • Volunteer
  • Children's

"Each committee will meet individually to go over specific details and work on any necessary plans specific to their jobs," MacRobbie said adding that volunteers will be needed for fundraising events leading up to the build day as well as volunteers on the build day itself.

"We can not do it without your help. If you have not already done so, please consider helping out in anyway possible. We still need members for the food, childcare, construction, golf outing and other great committees.  We have had great support thus far, but we need many more volunteers to make this a reality."

The volunteer meeting is at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 at the Nanuet Public Library in the upstairs community room.

"The build will begin on Wednesday October 5 and conclude on Sunday Oct 9 with the ribbon cutting of the New Highview Community Playground. This is an exciting project to be a part of and see happen!"
