Update from Nanuet Schools: Dealing with the Snow

Miller School is rescheduling the Halloween Parade for Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 2:15 p.m

Saturday's snow storm caused power outages leading to the Nanuet School District closing on Monday. Yesterday, Superintendent Mark McNeill sent out a K-12 Alert Message saying that all schools will reopen on Tuesday with the exception of Miller Elementary.

However, a few hours later, another one was sent out saying that all schools will open, including Miller since power was now restored.

"We do have to make up the (canceled Mon)day and it will be in May. We had a 20 percent absent rate at Miller Elementary (on Tuesday)," said McNeill. "The power was restored last night so while we originally thought Miller would be closed today, we were able to open. Highview and Barr had about an 8 percent absent rate." There was not an available number for the high school at the time.

There was only one event that needed to be postponed due to school being closed on Monday.

"Miller School is rescheduling the Halloween Parade for Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 2:15 p.m," said Miller Principal Betsy Smith. "We had to postpone from Monday because school was closed."
