Bringing something back from the dead…the journey begins.

As I noticed, once again I did not win election to the Nanuet School Board in yesterday’s election. This doesn’t bother me as much as you may think. I understand the electorate in Nanuet quite well. I do not run as a mission for me, but rather, for my ideas. This is one of the great tenants of living here and being a part of the ‘process’. Would I have preferred the results to be different? Sure, who wouldn’t (if you were in my shoes)?

That said, I am pleased to announce that an initiative that was never fully realized some years ago will be resurrected in some form. The form it will take will depend of circumstances. It will depend on what the people want, and how the people in the Nanuet School District react. It will depend on support from the community and beyond, and will be something that when fully realized, will be a boon to the community and most especially to the Nanuet School District.

I am pleased to announce that I will be starting the process of bringing back a form of the Nanuet Education Foundation. I will be working on the obtaining of paperwork and doing the ‘grunt work’ necessary to bring the Foundation to a working status, bringing the best of the best to Nanuet in money and materials to the schools. The best part is that since this will be outside of the realm of the school district and school board, the foundation will be independent and will actually be in a position to dictate terms, rather than the district doing likewise. Since the board still refuses to bring on board a Director of Development/Alumni Affairs, the foundation will do that work.

Obviously, I will not be able to do this on my own. The paperwork itself is terribly complicated at best and is quite possibly worse. There will be much work to be done to organize, create a working set of by-laws, set up committees, plan events, and much, much, more. The bottom line is that this endeavor is all about the Nanuet Schools and not about any one person or group of people.
