The Nanuet Black and Gold Club, Inc, in cooperation with the Nanuet High School
Athletic Department, held their 2011 Fall Athletic Banquet. The evening
recognizes athletes who represented and excelled for Nanuet in the 2011 fall
sports season.

“This is a great opportunity that these kids get,” said Athletic Director Frank
Mazzuca. “They don’t get the chance to come up on stage and have people say
such great things about them very often. They deserve it and we hope they go on and use the things they learned here in the future.”

A number of awards are presented to the student athletes of Nanuet on the eve of the annual banquet. The Section One Sportsmanship Awards, All Section,
All-Section Honorable Mention, All-League, All-and League Honorable Mentions
were handed out to about two dozen Golden Knight student athletes.

Each coach chose a Most Valuable Player and a Most Improved Player from their teams.

“There is a lot of work that goes in behind the scenes to keep this place going,” said Mazzuca when speaking of the custodial, transportation and athletic staff. “They are there for the kids. When I need them and the kids need them; they are always there. I don’t know what we would do without them.”
