The Dennis P. McHugh Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was formed to honor Dennis P. McHugh (Engine 22 Ladder 13), a fallen firefighter who was among the more than 2,800 brave rescue workers and civilians who perished as a result of the attacks on the World Trade Center.

The foundation first focused its efforts by pledging $500,000 to the construction of a new home for a local library. Construction of the Dennis P. McHugh Piermont Public Library began in the Spring of 2004 and was completed and officially opened March 10, 2007.

In addition to naming the new building for Dennis McHugh, a memorial was placed within the library to honor all those lost on September 11. Following the tragic events of that day, communities and people came together to support one another and provide strength to each other and to those who were directly affected. The foundation was established by the friends and family of Dennis to ensure that his legacy lives on in as dignified a fashion as he lived his life.

The foundation is a recognized nonprofit public charity that has received its 501(c)(3) status, consequently all donations are tax deductible.
