Dominican College volleyball standout Jordyn Fuller of Keller, TX, has been named to the ECAC all-star team at the libero position. Fuller, a two-time team captain, led the Lady Chargers in digs for the third time in her career. She ranked second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in digs, and digs per set.

Former Pearl River standout Luke Houston is averaging 5.8 points per game as a freshman on the men’s basketball team at Southern Connecticut State University (6-6). Houston, a tough defender, is also averaging 2.3 rebounds per game, and has 20 assists and eight steals.

The Domincan College women’s basketball team (4-6) is 4-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. They take on Georgian Court University (2-10) 1 p.m. Saturday K.C. Jentzen of Pearl River, a sophomore forward, is averaging 10.2 points per game for Dominican, second only to junior guard Lindsay Lopez of Elmwood Park, N.J., who is averaging 10.9.

Brandon Heembrock of Ottawa, a senior goalkeeper at Dominican College, will attend the sixth USL Pro Combine, scheduled Jan. 26-29 in Bradenton, FL. Heembrock, who helped Coach John Campbell’s Chargers post a 9-6-3 mark (7-2-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference), was chosen from 300 applicants, of which only 102 spots were available. Since the combine began in 2006 more than 125 players have gone on to sign professional contracts with the USL, MLS and international squads.

Score: Nanuet Won 39-36

Highlights: Nanuet beat North thanks in large part to four victories by forfeit late in the match. Nanuet started out very strong as Joe Dillon (99), Vincent Skokos (106), and Anthony Calvano (120) all beat their opponents convincingly. In the quickest match of the nigh North’s Wes Sippel pinned his opponent in 23 secounds at 285.
