Daily Sports Digest: O’Meara and Young Head To State Championships

Nanuet’s MaryKate O’Meara and Megan Young will be competing in this weekends state championships in cross country.

The United Way of Putnam and Westchester counties is hosting the third annual run united, a 5k run for health at Purchase College.

The Proceeds are to support initiatives to reduce childhood obesity, get healthy foods to low income families, and steer teens away from risky behaviors like drugs and alcohol. People of all ages are encouraged to participate.

According to the press release, registration begins at 7:30 a.m. followed by the Toddler Dash at 8:30, the 5K Run at 8:45 and the 1-Mile Run/Walk at 8:55 a.m.  A half-hour awards ceremony takes place from 10 – 10:30 a.m. Toddlers and 1-Mile participants will receive ribbons, and 5k runners can win awards in age and gender categories.
