Local sports competed in some big county wide events as the conference tournament for girl’s tennis saw two Knights advance and the cross country championships saw the Nanuet girls finish in second.
Albertus Magnus won in both boy’s soccer and volleyball while Nanuet’s soccer team fell on the road.

Game: Conference Tournament
Score: Quill (Nanuet) Won 6-0, 6-0
Score: Gremli (Nanuet) Won 6-2, 4-6, 10-4
Score: Arendt (Magnus) Lost 6-0, 6-0
Highlights: Nanuet’s Kristin Quill and Ana Gremli won their matches in the conference tournament Tuesday night. Quill defeated Brooke Strieter and Gremli beat Michele Lliev, both Strieter and Lliev are from North Rockland.
Kristen Arendt of Albertus Magnus fell to Lauren Sapienza of Clarkstown South in straight sets.
Sport: Cross Country
Game: Girl’s 3 Mile Run
Score: Pearl River 27 – Nanuet 37 – Tappan Zee 67
Highlights: The Golden Knights came in second in the girl’s 3 mile run in the county championships. Nanuet’s Megan Young finished first overall with a time of 18:03.88. MaryKate O’Meara finished forth and Lauren Fernandez and Katherine Aguiar finished 8th and 9th respectively.

Game: Boy’s 3 Mile Run
Score: Pearl River 26 – Tappan Zee 34 – Nyack 88 – Nanuet 96 – Albertus Magnus 153
Highlights: As a team the Golden Knights came away with a 4th place finish but Kyle Chesterman finished 9th overall with a time of 15:55.52. The top finisher for the 5th place Falcons was Sean McNiff who crossed the finish line with a time of 19:10.26.
Sport: Boy’s Soccer
Game: Nyack @ Albertus Magnus
Score: Albertus Magnus Won 3-0
Highlights: James Huber led the way for the Falcons with 2 goals and 1 assist, Arnell Dandridge added a goal and assist for Albertus Magnus in the victory. Nyack’s Jon Rizner led the Indian defense with 8 saves in defeat.
Sport: Volleyball
Game: Nanuet @ Albertus Magnus
Score: Albertus Magnus Won 3-2
Highlights: The match went the distance between two of our local rivals but in the end the Falcons found a narrow victory 3-2.
Sport: Boy’s Soccer
Game: Nanuet @ Tappan Zee
Score: Nanuet Lost 4-0
Highlights: Tappan Zee’s goaltender Danny Calderon led the Dutchmen defense with three saves in the shutout victory. Chris Kane, Paolo Avantifiori, Serafirm Temidis, and Kevin Lynch scored the goals for the home team. Ben Buhlke had 30 saves for the Golden Knights.
