Five Rockland Teams Set for Football Playoffs
Though five teams from Rockland County earned places in the Section 1 football playoffs, only Tappan Zee and North Rockland will begin its postseason journey at home this week.
Tappan Zee (6-1), the only Rockland County team in the Class A playoffs, will open at home 6 p.m. Friday against Sleepy Hollow, which features dynamic quarterback Devin Lopez. Lopez threw for 334 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 169 yards and two scores in Sleepy Hollow's 41-32 victory over Ossining last week.
Three Rockland County teams made it in Class AA. North Rockland will play at home 1:30 p.m. Saturday against New Rochelle. Ramapo will be at White Plains 6:30 p.m. Friday and Clarkstown South will travel to Ketcham 1:30 p.m Saturday.
In Class B, Nanuet will play at top seed Pleasantville in a semifinal game 7 p.m. Friday.
Local teams not in the playoffs will play bowl series games over the next two weeks. This includes Nyack, Pearl River, Clarkstown North, Spring Valley
