Jets Inflatable Targeted In Nanuet

The Donnelly Family of Nanuet roots for the Jets football team in a very big way. They place a five-foot tall Jets inflatable and Jets flag on their lawn for every game. However recently someone slashed the Jets figure causing it to deflate and also threw eggs at it.

The Donnellys said unfortunately this is not the first time the figure was targeted. It also happened two years ago and after that incident, they wound up buying a “Jets Guy” as they have nicknamed it.

Jennifer Donnelly said it is their family tradition to show support for the team.

“Every football season, my husband, son and daughters put an inflatable New York Jets blow up on our lawn on game day,” she said.  “We live on Highview Avenue and many people refer to our house as the "Jets house."

Earlier this month when her family returned home from watching a Jets preseason game at her uncle’s house they saw the Jets Guy lying on the lawn with several slash marks. They called Clarkstown Police and reported the vandalism.

Donnelly said her husband and children went out the next morning and tried to repair the figure’s head and shoulder with duct tape. But the duct tape does not stay in place for long and the Jets Guy keeps deflating.

Donnelly said her husband and children are determined to keep showing their loyalty and plan tape up the Jets Guy and inflate him every time their team is playing.  On Monday, she said the figure was in its regular spot for this past Saturday’s game and remained untouched.
