Nanuet Knights Take Fourth at Section 1, Class B Track and Field Championships

The athletes ran more sprints than Marathons at Sunday at the Section 1 Class B Indoor Track and Field Championships at The Armory, but Nanuet relied on endurance as well as depth to place in 15 of the 31 events, including first in the boys triple jump, 600-meter dash and the girls 1000-meter run and 4 x 800-meter relay.

Overall, Nanuet came in fourth for girls with 53 points, just one behind Nyack, but 24 points in front of Harrison. The Lady Knights scored in eight of the 16 events.

• Nanuet Hannah Demartino, Morgan Mason, Megan Young and Deanna Felicissimo finished first with a time of 9:46.60 in the 4 x 800-meter relay race.
• Megan Young came in first for the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:07.80.
• Hannah DeMartino took second in the 1000-meter run as well as fourth in the high jump.
• In the shot put, Halle Landsman placed second Melissa Richards took sixth place
• Caitlin Lenihan placed third in the triple jump
• Nicole Palazzo placed fifth in the pole vault.
• The Lady Knights came in fifth for the 4 x 400-meter relay race.
• Brooke Madre placed sixth in the 600-meter dash.
• Erin Mcgovern placed sixth in the high jump.

The boys also came in fourth overall with 44 points, placing in seven of their 15 events, including first in the 600-meter dash and the triple jump.

• Nanuet’s Andi Augustin came in first in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:22.70. He also took fourth in the 300-meter dash.
• Andrew Klock took first in the triple jump with 41-10.5, third in the 55-meter hurdle and sixth in the high jump.
• Brendan Booth placed second in the 600-meter dash.
• Andrew Ko placed fifth in the 55-meter hurdles.
• Bari Dar placed fifth in the shot put.
• The Nanuet Knights took fifth in the 4 x 400-meter relay race.
