Check back with Patch for photos of her trip

While everyone's picking up appetizers, game-day grub and Giants gear, one Nanuet mother is buzzing around her house debating what to pack. Sheila Morahan-Gick is heading to the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis for the Super Bowl.

We'll be watching Sunday's championship game between the New York Giants and New England Patriots from our couches and she'll be in the stands with up to 68,000 other lucky ticket holders.

"A friend got these tickets and ended up not being able to to go so she offered a ticket to me and I said, 'I'll go,'" she said. "I'm a Giants fan but it's actually a Patriots ticket. I'm so excited. It's sinking in now and I'm realizing how once-in-a-lifetime this game actually is."

Morahan-Gick accepted the ticket on Tuesday and said that everything's happening so quickly.

"I went shopping (for Giants merchandise) and there's basically nothing left in the stores," she said. "I've been packing and rushing around. It took a while to get everything in order. I'll be leaving Friday and I won't be home until probably Tuesday."

Her flight is Friday morning and after a full day of travel, she plans to spend Saturday touring around the city.

"There's also Super Bowl Village with memorabilia of past teams and teams that are playing in Super Bowl right now,” she said. “There are events going on each day at different times throughout the day.”

Super Bowl Village is an NFL Experience presented by GMC is the most exciting continuous event surrounding Super Bowl XLVI—pro football's interactive theme park offering participatory games, displays, entertainment attractions, kids' football clinics, free autograph sessions and the largest memorabilia show ever, according to the NFL.

She has three young children and although she’ll miss them, they’re excited for her.

“(My son) Sean definitely understands what big of a deal it is,” Morahan-Gick said. “Unfortunately he can't come, but if I had another ticket, I would definitely take him. My daughter asked me to bring home a souvenir.”

A is going to his fifth Super Bowl, including this one.
