Hundreds of student athletes, coaches, parents and school administrators gathered in the Nanuet High School gym on Wednesday for the 2013 Spring Athletic Banquet. Numerous coaches thanked the district’s administration for continuing to provide athletic programs during difficult financial times.
Each spring sport coach shared highlights of the season and introduced the team members.

Girls Lacrosse Coach Karen Leitner spoke about a goal that all the student athletes should have in common.

“Let’s all have the motivation and desire to be winners,” she said.

First-year Boys’ Lacrosse Coach Jason Whalen, who was born and raised in Nanuet, said it had been an amazing experience.

“I think coaching here in Nanuet is something special,” he said.

Each coach named a Most Valuable Player (MVP) or co-MVPs for their varsity squads

Girls’ Lacrosse – Jackie Fitzgerald
Boys’ Lacrosse – Co-MVPs William Clark and Steven Rohan
Boys’ Tennis – Shea Lombardo
Baseball – Brandon Strathy
Softball – Co-MVPs Danielle DiModugno and Laura Marinello

Girl’s Golf Coach Christopher Logan said everyone on the team improved and he could not single out a specific player.

“Basically the MVP of girls’ golf is the girls’ golf team,” he said.
