Nanuet's Black & Gold Club hosts three athletic award dinners each year and last night was the winter athletic awards.

"I appreciate the support from the Board of Education, the students, coaches, staff and parents for all they do. I want to thank Kathi Mooney, president of the Black & Gold Club for putting this all together," said Nanuet Athletic Director Frank Mazzuca.

Black and gold tables filled the Nanuet High School gym Wednesday night. Mooney and Lynn Mirro manned the check-in and raffle table.

"We love to do this to improve school spirit," said Mooney. "I wouldn't be able to do this without Lynn (Mirro) and the support from the athletic department, Black & Gold board and parent volunteers."

"This season, some did very well, others were rebuilding, but all teams strived to do their best," said Mazzuca.

After a buffet dinner, awards were given out, team by team, and coaches recognized the MVP and MIP.

"This is a wonderful evening to recognize our student athletes," said Superintendent Mark McNeill. "We're very proud of the fact that most of our athletes are also scholars. Not only do they excel in their sport but also have impressive academic achievements as well."
