NFL Players Stop by Nanuet for Autograph Event

The twins lived in Nyack before moving to Nanuet

It's not everyday a pro player stops by our town. This past weekend, two NFL players came back to the community center where they grew up at.

Jason and Devin McCourty did a meet and greet on Saturday at the Pascack Community Center. Jose O'Brien Restaurant is a new family business that opened up at the Spring Valley Market Place and they provided the refreshments for the event.

At the event, they signed autographs, there was food and refreshments set out for everyone that stopped by and signed jerseys and a football were raffled off.

The twin brothers grew up in Nyack before moving to Nanuet where they attended St. Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, NJ. They then had academic and athletic success at Rutgers University before being drafted into the NFL. Devin plays defensiveback for the New England Patriots and Jason plays defensiveback for the Tennessee Titans.

Patch sat down with the twins to reminisce about their past and talk about their future.

Coming Home

"It's so good to come back home and hang out with our family and friends. Coming home, seeing my mom and the rest of my family is it for me," said Jason.

"Some of our best memories are just growing up in Nyack. Just playing basketball with everyone. We played from 9 o'clock in the morning to 9 o'clock at night. I'll always remember that," added Jason.

The NFL Experience

"We played together from pop warner and high school, through college. I red-shirted for a year so he got drafted a year earlier," said Devin.

"My first season was great; coming in I didn't expect to be a starter or anything. I was just trying to be ready to contribute but because of some injuries I started getting more reps with the first team. I felt confident all year but midway though I really felt that I really belonged," said Devin.

"The opportunity to go out there and play against some of the best receivers and quarterbacks is great. That's what guys like us love," said Jason.

"Peyton is in my division and that's probably the best offense to handle. They don't huddle, Peyton just lines up and calls his own plays. Reggie Wayne and those guys, it's probably the best offense I have to face," said Jason.

"For me, getting ready every day in practice, having Tom Brady to lead all those offensive weapons, we get a lot of work in practice. Then teams like Cleveland have great running games and you've got to be ready for that too," said Devin.

"Barry Sanders has to be the guy I'd never want to tackle but I'm sure glad that Chris Johnson is on my team," said Jason.

"Definitely Sanders for me too. Adrian Peterson is great in the open field. Being in the secondary, when we see him, it's usually with a 10-yard head start," said Jason.
