Winter Festival/Tree Lighting Enjoyed by Community

As the accompanying photos indicate, the soggy weather certainly did not dampen the spirits of those who attended our Winter Festival and Tree Lighting Ceremony from having a great time yesterday.

Under overcast skies and an occasional rainy mist, youngsters from the Amazing Grace Circus performed a flawless series of acts and acrobatic maneuvers while face painters, balloon artists and holiday costumed characters entertained visitors nearby.  Meanwhile, the cheerful voices of Harmony on the Hudson could be heard throughout Fashion Drive at The Shops at Nanuet.

Fortunately, the rain completely stopped at about 4:00 p.m. and by the time the Tree Lighting Ceremony began at 6:00 p.m., the seats were dry and filled to capacity and beyond.  There, everyone was treated to a series of inspiring musical performances by The Temple Dudes, the Lower Hudson Valley Youth Chorus and Judith Hill, featured in the major motion picture 20 Feet from Stardom and finalist from The Voice.

Slightly after 7:00 p.m., led by the cheers of the enthusiastic crowd, our 30-foot tree was lit for the first time, filling the night sky with over 37,000 twinkling lights while music blared and confetti streamed through the air.

What a great way to usher in the holiday season.
