Nyack Walk Path by Hudson River

Doggie bags on the path

Hello, yesterday, my friend and I were walking by the Hudson River in Nyack

It's a nice trail, but we noticed all the doggie bags people leave along the path. We counted 27 bags. I love dogs but if people want to bring their dogs fine, it is good too that they have bags, but your bring bags to the container, or don't bring your dogs, or the park should not allow dogs at all.

What are your feelings about this. I hope hope some county officials will look into this.

truth is if the dogs do it on the walk then it needs to be picked up & placed in a waste receptical, what is needed is more of them. There are bio-degradible types that can be utilized for less cost on removal of the waste & can provide fertilzer for the park areas that are landscaped. If however the dogs do itmore the 1-2 feet off the trail it should not matter like any animal for the woods it will fertilze the ground mother natures way & there is no way it can be to much that could cause problems of excessive waste incase some might think that.

truth is if the dogs do it on the walk then it needs to be picked up & placed in a waste receptical, what is needed is more of them. There are bio-degradible types I have seen that can be utilized for less long term cost on removal of the waste & can provide fertilzer for the park areas that are landscaped. If however the dogs do it more the 1-2 feet off the trail it should not matter like any animal for the woods it will fertilze the ground mother natures way & there is no way it can be to much that could cause problems of excessive waste concerns by some. Simple signage informing how far ti the next drop spot would also help. As for cost, get the Cub scouts, Boys & Girl scouts in the area involved for the work, as well as community service from the court system and science classes as projects. I have many more ideas then just these few simple ones.

Yes, people should respect their surroundings. They should pick up after their dogs. Some people need to be reminded. But, please, no more rules & laws. Let's leave the do-good busy-body politicians out of this. How often do people break these rules just because they are angry at the people who are trying to control lives? Just Luv Thy Neighbor. Peace.

I am not supporting leaving the bags along the walk but i commend the individuals who have the decency to pick up after their dog. a few more garbage cans along the way and i think we have a plan where we all can get along without the necessity of a new rule, law or public outrage.
