Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Tim Donnelly and I was elected to the position of Trustee for the Nanuet School District Library this year. My wife and I moved our family to Nanuet from Queens 15 years ago looking at many different locations that we were intersted in and have loved it here ever since.
My love for the library goes all the way back to my childhood in Queens. The library was my favorite rainy day destinations after school. While the Libraries back then in Queens didn't have many programs, they had books! When I couldn't play football, whiffle ball or ring-a-lerio (also pronounced ring-a-levio) with my friends, I had books to go through, take out, and read. (I especially remember paying my first late fee, that quarter felt like I was paying a million dollar fine).
When I was elected, Patch offered to let me post this blog and, after discussing with my fellow Trustees, we felt that this would be a great venue to get our message out about the state of the Library.
I was that was filled by Pam Cirilli who did not run for re-election. My first order of business is to say that I have found that I am filling a large footprint that Ms. Cirilli made in this Library. While I do not recall ever having the pleasure of meeting Ms. Cirilli, I realize what an impact she had on the Library in my historical readings of the events of the library as both a Trustee, but also as a public participant on a Library board. The kind words that all of the Trustees, employees and the director have for her on an ongoing basis also speak volumes. I hope my shoes are big enough to carry on that type work ethic and dedication to the library for the people in our hamlet.
