Annual Nanuet Boy Scout Garage Sale Draws Crowds

Nanuet Boy Scout Troop 33 held their 6th Annual fundraiser garage sale this weekend.

The weather cooperated this past Saturday for the Nanuet Boy Scout Troop 33's 6th annual garage sale fundraiser at . Troop 33 holds this sale every year to raise money for supplies that they will need for the coming year and to partially fund a variety of events, including their yearly trip to summer camp.

The sale featured everything from books to clothing and furniture.  All of the items for sale were donations from the members of the troop and the community. Committee chair Graham Seidel says that the troop will make a few hundred dollars through the sale, all of which will stay within the troop and directly benefit the boys.

“It helps us raise money for the troop, so we can do more events and have more supplies," said Troop 33 Member Louis Somma. Both the boys and their parents came out today to support the event and the troop

Linda Chesterman, mother of two boys in the troop and the coordinator of the event, said that the beautiful, sunny weather was perfect for a garage sale and was one of the reasons for the strong turnout. Many community members came to the middle school in search of antiques, clothes, books and even classroom supplies.

The sale is only one of the many events and fundraisers the troop participates in throughout the year. The boys frequently participate in overnight camping trips and volunteer at community events.  They also partake in a yearly popcorn sale, in which the funds also directly benefit the troop.
