Golden Knights Fire Truck Pull for Breast Cancer

The event is this Saturday from 9 a.m. - noon at the Vision Sport's Club

The Nanuet Wrestling team and Vision Sport's Club of Pearl River are hosting the 2nd Annual Fire Truck Pull for Breast Cancer on Sunday Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. - noon at the Vision Sport's Club located at 37 West Jefferson Ave. in Pearl River.

"Nanuet Wrestling has raised close to $10,000 over the last couple of years for Breast Cancer through various events," said Nanuet Wrestling Coach Carmine Serra. "Hopefully, this will continue our tradition of giving back to the community."

Breast cancer is a disease that has direct or indirect effects on almost everyone in the community and last year, 16 teams competed. Here are the three divisions for this year:

  • Teen/Students (18 and under)
  • Police/Fire
  • Open

One overall winner will be announced and a winning team from each division will receive a team trophy in one of the following categories:

  • Best Dressed Team
  • Slowest Team
  • Most Spirited Team

Teams consist of ten members and the entrance fee is $100 per team.  Any individual wishing to participate may sign up in advance for $10 and will be placed on an available team.  For those athletes who have registered, T-shirts will be made available for a special price of $10 (regular price is $20).

Team captains should check in at 8:30 a.m and food will be available.

"All money raised will go directly to the Avon Center for Breast Cancer Research," said Serra. " It is an enjoyable day for all and certainly a worthy cause.  It is a great way for coaches to encourage their athletes to get involved and give back to the community, a lesson all young athletes should be taught at some point." They are also looking for sponsors as well.
